To the people of Minnesota, I’m writing to express my solidarity and care during a time of deep pain and uncertainty. The loss of life and the violence that have touched your communities, particularly in connection with ICE actions and law enforcement, are heartbreaking, and no family or neighborhood should have to carry this kind of grief or fear. I stand with those mourning loved ones, those demanding answers, and those calling for accountability, transparency, and the protection of human dignity, because every life matters and every person deserves safety, due process, and respect regardless of immigration status or circumstance. Minnesota has long shown the strength that comes from community, with people looking out for one another, speaking up when something is wrong, and refusing to turn away from hard truths, and in moments like this that courage and compassion matter more than ever. Please know that many beyond your state are paying attention, grieving with you, and supporting your calls for justice and change, and may you continue to lean on one another, honor those who have been lost, and work toward a future where safety and humanity come first.
