My name is Abigael Brewer. I am 16 years old and I live in Perth, Scotland, so approximately 4000 miles from Minneapolis but the effect and voices of victims and those hurt by President Trump and his administration have not been silenced, we are aware. As a full time student, I am unable to donate money but what I am able to do is express my gratitude. I was raised Christian, to believe that the most important thing a person could do is love one another and help those less fortunate than yourself. I was brought up 4000 miles away from Barack Obama’s two terms but the ripples of his beliefs were not stopped due to distance. To go from a man that believes that helping others is the core of presidency to a man that believes he is simply the most important was a change I was simply too young to understand. But what I wasn’t too young to understand was compassion. So I thank those directly on the frontlines, those cooking food, those delivering food and those protecting the innocent. Suzanne Collins wrote that ‘Hope is the only thing stronger than fear.’ And I, though it may seem privileged and childlike, agree. The courage and strength of the people of Minneapolis is clear. As humans, we are best when we work together. I cannot do more than I have now but what I will do is what i was raised to do, pray for those in need, and support them when I can. Thank you to the city of Minneapolis, your courage is not going unseen.
