I wasn’t born in this country. I am not an American citizen. I moved to the USA years ago because I believed in the promise of a better life. I believed in the words etched in the Statue of Liberty and the words inked in the Declaration of Independence. I believed that a better world was possible. The past few years living as an immigrant in the US have been beyond difficult, even if I’m more privileged than most of my brothers and sisters who also share my dream. There are days where it just feels crushing. Crushing to be hated, to be blamed, to be demonised, for sins we haven’t committed. Despite this, the heroes of Minneapolis give me the strength to carry on. Against all odds, you have been a beacon in the darkness this country has unleashed. Your courage, your commitment, and your bravery, are an inspiration for us all. Every day, I am moved by watching you stand side by side with each other, pushing back against the rising tide of fascism, united in spirit. Thank you for fighting for my rights and making me believe in America once again. Renee, Alex, I will never forget you. I owe you all a debt forever. Love from the bottom of my heart <3
