Hello Minnesotans. Like countless other Canadians and no doubt citizens around the world, I am aghast at the violence and cruelty being perpetrated by so-called law enforcement officers in Minneapolis and many other communities in the United States, not only on streets and in neighborhoods but also in the ghastly detention centers (i.e., concentration camps). At the same time I admire the courage, compassion, and general decency of Americans who are standing on the right side of history in standing up for the rights of your fellow citizens, including not only those who legally immigrated to the United States but also those who may have entered illegally (e.g., to escape violence etc. in their native country) but who aspire to a better life in the U.S. - and who are also deserving of respect and kindness. I hope you can all stay strong in the face of the naked racism and fascism of the Trump administration. I am sure justice will prevail in time, and that the perpetrators of this extremely dark chapter in American history will be held to account.
