I’m the daughter and granddaughter of people who praised Minnesota their entire lives - two of my grandparents lie at Ft Snelling; two in Red Wing. My parents were married at St Kate’s and when we can bear to part with my parents’ ashes, they will be scattered together from a Minnesota river bluff. I grew up learning about Minnesota nice, Minnesota empathy, Minnesota community and faith in each other. I miss my parents every day and I have mourned that my teen and young adult sons will never know the Minnesota my parents wanted them to see…. But now, from another city that knows what it means to fight for justice and a better world, that knows we CAN and ARE making that world, from a state that will not abandon our immigrant neighbors and our morality…. They are seeing the Minnesota my parents loved. The city that SHOWS UP and FIGHTS BACK. The city that loves with NO APOLOGIES and NO FEAR. I am so grateful for you all. ❤️❤️❤️
