I just want you to know how much gratitude and admiration we have for all of you. I just donated money to help people pay their rent. I’m spreading the word among my friends to donate as well. I’ve been reading about what you’ve all been doing. Neighborism is the word I’ve heard used. What an amazing example of love your neighbor, and how perfect that it comes from the heartland. This is what I posted on Facebook about you all: “What’s happening in Minnesota is fucking amazing. The people who are working against ICE are incredible. They call themselves protectors rather than protesters — they are protecting their neighbors, families, and people they love. Read this Atlantic article; it’s an incredible picture of one of the most well-thought-out and well-organized rebellions against fascism. They are so smart: there’s no one person in charge, they hide where they are training people, and they’re not sharing details with the media or press (this Atlantic journalist won their trust, but they wouldn’t give last names). Best of all, they’re doing all this in 10° below-zero weather. They are badass. It’s so fascinating that this is where the second-order effect is taking place–the heartland of America. But also how appropriate–this is the first time in a long time I’ve felt real hope about humanity. There’s always a place that becomes the spark. So much admiration for the Minnesotans. They are the spark.”
