I was thinking today about how the future of the entire planet might pivot around one very brave mid-sized city in the midwestern USA. I don’t know for a fact that that’s true. The future is unwritten and perhaps in the near future some other group of heroes in some other city will also move the needle away from fascism.

But it certainly is true that if the fascists lose (and I think they will), the brave and organized people of Minneapolis will be an entire chapter in the history books describing how that happened. Those same history books will zoom out from there to talk about the implications these events had globally in the fights for human rights, democracy, peace, and sustainability.

You are risking everything to keep each other safe. But by doing so, you are also keeping the whole world safe. As someone whose family lives in that world: Thank you.
