Please know we are standing with you and are deeply saddened by the horrific cruelty playing out in your homes. There are no words to adequately ease your pain, we know action steps are needed here and now. You are all the definition of strength, courage, grace and perseverance. The country is learning from you how to stand up to with dignity and honor to dictatorship and evil. Martin Luther King, Jr’s words remind us that “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” The light will shine. Hope in the long history of our democracy and those in power finally doing the right thing. Until then “we the people” are called to rise.
